Notre Dame Hounds (1) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (10) U15
After the first period at WinSport, Calgary International led 5-0 and the Hounds, a day removed from a 12-0 loss at Edge School, were chasing for good. CIHA finished with a 56-9 edge in shots and eight different goal scorers. Lucas Card (2G) and Brady Williams (2G) both doubled up for their first goals of the season, Williams cashing in on the power play early in the third after Notre Dame closed the middle frame two men short. Defenceman Jameson Booth (1G, 2A) and Jack Blair (1G, 2A) drove the offence with three-point mornings, while Brixtin Cenaiko (1G, 1A), Lawson Lieske (1G, 1A) and Thompson Kreba (1G, 1A) each chipped in two. Through it all, Logan Tark stood in against the barrage and turned aside 46 of 56. Defenceman Jaxson Doyle (1G) finally beat Jett Johnson (8/9) with under three minutes to go to spoil the shutout.
Bishop’s College School (3) vs Lower Canada College (4/OT) BioSteel East
Sixty seconds changed everything at the Glenn J. Chamandy Arena. Bishop’s College School arrived unbeaten, and after Zack Fyfe (1G, 1A) put Lower Canada College ahead midway through the second, the visitors flipped the game in 39 seconds late in the frame on goals from Elliott Correia (1G) and Kellan Sullivan (1G). Seth Peach (1G) made it 3-1 early in the third, cashing in out of a crowd at the LCC crease. The two-goal cushion lasted exactly one minute. Jeremy Riccardi (1G) answered right back at 6:29, and Harry Miller (2G, 1A) drew the home side even on a feed from Leo Christou (1A) with under ten minutes to play. Jayden Perron (27/31) and Jona Erickson (26/29) kept it level the rest of the way, but a tripping minor in overtime handed LCC the man advantage, and Miller (2G, 1A) finished the job, set up by Fyfe (1G, 1A) at 3:16 to give BCS its first blemish of the season.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6/OT) U17
Northern Alberta Xtreme trailed 5-2 after 40 minutes and still walked out of the GFL Twin Arena with a 6-5 overtime win over RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. Julien Crook (1G, 2A) and Kingston Catcheway (1G, 2A) each scored and set up two as the visitors built a 3-1 lead in the first, and when defenceman Ethan Oldford (2G) pulled NAX within two on the power play late in the second, Kellan Hermiston (1G) answered 15 seconds later with his first of the season. The third belonged to the home side. NAX outshot RINK 18-7 in the period, and Landon Russell (1G) made it 5-3 early on. An extended five-minute power play late in regulation turned the game: Cohen Aquino (1G, 3A) converted with under three minutes left, and Bryden Ezekiel (1G) tied it from a scramble at the crease with 78 seconds to go. Andrew Wilkinson (40/46) had kept RINK afloat, but in overtime, with NAX killing a penalty, Oldford (2G) struck shorthanded at 1:58, and netminder Gage Genereux (26/31) picked up an assist on the winner.
Bishop’s College School (1) vs Rothesay Netherwood School (0) U18 Prep
Three weeks after Rothesay Netherwood School beat Bishop’s College School 4-3, the rematch on in Rothesay came down to a single shot. For 39 minutes, Egor Oganesyan and Liam Healy matched each other save for save, and special teams offered no relief, with BCS going 0-for-4 on the power play and RNS 0-for-2. The breakthrough finally came with 50 seconds left in the second, when Cole Toms (1G) found the net off a faceoff win from Elliot Bertrand (1A) for his third of the season. Healy (27/28) gave up nothing else, but one was all the visitors needed. Oganesyan turned aside all nine shots he faced in the third and finished with 26 saves on 26 shots, closing out the shutout and squaring the season series at a game apiece.
Indigenous Sports Academy (3/OT) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep
Check the shot totals and you’d swear this one went the other way. Calgary International outshot Indigenous Sports Academy 43-8, ISA didn’t record a shot in the first period, and the visitors still left with a 3-2 overtime win. The reason stood in the ISA crease, where Grayson Girling turned aside 41 of 43 against a CIHA side that came in at 9-0-1. Madden Rome (1G) gave the home side a power-play lead late in the first, but Kaythin Mirasty (2G) answered twice in the second, the first on the man advantage, for his first two goals of the season. Maxwell Parker (1G) pulled CIHA even midway through the third, and when a four-minute head-contact minor sent ISA to the power play 13 seconds into overtime, Archie Tawiyaka (1G, 1A) finished off a rush at 1:16, set up by Tyson Bird (2A), to snap a four-game skid.
St. George’s School (13) vs Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy (0) U17 Prep
A day after an 11-0 win in Wenatchee, St. George’s School came back for the rematch and somehow found another gear, rolling to a 13-0 victory with a staggering 81 shots on goal. Reed Hickman deserves real credit for turning aside 68 of them, or the margin could have been even wider. Maksim Tkachenko (4G, 1A) led the charge with four goals, three of them after the midway point of the second, while Jayden Ni (2G, 4A) piled up six points. The playmaking ran just as deep: defenceman Matthias Goetz (5A) set up five goals, Theo Wesik (1G, 4A) collected five points, and Michael Sung (2G, 1A) opened his season account with a first-period pair. At the other end, Hudson Waddell made all 19 saves for the shutout, and seven different St. George’s skaters found the net, including Jack Davison (1G, 1A) with his first of the year.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (3) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (4/SO) U15
Two games, two extra sessions, two wins for Northern Alberta Xtreme. A day after a 5-4 overtime win over RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg, NAX needed a shootout to do it again, edging the visitors 4-3 at the GFL Twin Arena. Augustine Paziuk (2G) was in the middle of it once more, opening the scoring in the first and restoring the lead early in the third to push his season total to 12. RINK kept answering. Hudson Reich (2G) tied it late in the first and put the visitors ahead early in the second with his first two goals of the season, before Yixuan Liu (1G) drew NAX even two minutes later. Defenceman Gavin Richard (1G) then made it 3-3 on the power play midway through the third for his first of the year. RINK outshot NAX 37-28, but Elliot Needham (34/37) held firm through a scoreless overtime, and while Reich (2G) scored in the shootout, Liu (1G) and Nash Schwab both beat Nolan Memka (24/27) to seal it.
North Shore Warriors (4/SO) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U15 Prep
Fifteen shots were enough. North Shore Warriors were outshot 33-15 at Kal Tire Place and still left with a 4-3 shootout win, the first game this season that previously unbeaten RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna hasn’t won. Ronan Jones (1G) opened the scoring midway through the first for his first goal of the season, and the second period was a lesson in efficiency. The Warriors put just two shots on goal in the frame, and Wesley Mayor (2G, 1A) scored on both, each on the power play, either side of a reply from Spencer Hall (1G). Trailing 3-1, RHAK Kelowna turned up the pressure in the third. Ajax Smith (1G, 1A) cut the deficit unassisted, then set up Colby Boltz (1G) for the tying goal with 2:17 to play. From there, Nikita Neklyudov (30/33) shut the door, stopping all four overtime shots and all three RINK shooters in the shootout, and Mason Layher scored the only goal of the skills competition to seal it.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (5) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep
For two periods at Black Jack Stewart Arena, Pilot Mound Hockey Academy had exactly what it needed: a first-period goal from Dane Magwood (1G, 1A) and Connor Braun turning aside all 18 shots he faced. Then Northern Alberta Xtreme found the range. A day after an 8-2 loss to RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg, the visitors poured 16 shots on goal in the third and scored five times, all at even strength. Alexander Roy (1G) broke through early with his first goal of the season, Yukon Kim (2G) put NAX ahead less than two minutes later, and defenceman Malik Flynn (2A) set up both. Sebastian Morgan (2G, 1A) made it 3-1, and when Nash Ramage (1G, 1A) gave the home side life on a feed from Magwood (1G, 1A), Morgan (2G, 1A) answered just 26 seconds later. He then set up Kim (2G) late in the period to cap a 5-2 comeback win.
BWC Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy (5) U15 Prep
Two weeks after blanking BWC Academy 7-0 on the road, Delta Hockey Academy’s U15 Prep group hosted the rematch at Planet Ice Delta and was just as dominant, winning 5-1 and outshooting the visitors 55-14. Without Grayson Kennard, it could have been far uglier: the BWC netminder turned aside 50 shots and kept Delta off the board for the entire third period. The damage came early. Kayden Krestanovich (1G) opened the scoring, Stefano Trentalance (1G) added an unassisted power-play goal for his first of the season, and Seven Tyson (2G) struck twice in the opening six minutes of the second to put it away. Alex Iaichkin (2A) set up two of those goals, and defenceman Easton Isfeld (1G) made it 5-0. Holter Karpiak (13/14) was rarely tested at the other end but delivered when it counted, stopping Donivan Cominetti on a third-period penalty shot. Cooper McBride (1G) finally solved him with under two minutes left to spoil the shutout.
Prairie Hockey Academy (0) vs Calgary International Hockey Academy (9) U15 Prep
Nine power plays, zero goals, and one shorthanded goal against. That was Prairie Hockey Academy’s afternoon on special teams at WinSport, and it went a long way toward explaining a 9-0 win for Calgary International’s U15 Prep group. CIHA spent plenty of time in the box, but its penalty kill went a perfect 9-for-9, and Colton Smith (2G) even struck shorthanded late in the first to make it 2-0. The second period settled it: five goals, three of them in a 62-second burst from Matus Kudrna (2G), Lucas Beaudin (1G) and Smith (2G). Charlie Terlesky needed just eight saves for the shutout, as Prairie didn’t record a shot in the third, while Hudson Reimer (43/52) held his ground under a 52-shot barrage at the other end. Defenceman Cohen St. Louis (5A) quarterbacked the attack with five assists, Miles Coy (2G, 1A) and Carter White (3A) each finished with three points, and Sawyer Grierson (1G) scored his first goal of the season.
CIH Academy (BioSteel) (3) vs CHE Academy (CCM) (9) East
Wyatt Rowland (1G, 1A) needed just 11 seconds to open the scoring at the Kinsmen Civic Center, and CHE Academy kept coming from there, rolling to a 9-3 win over CIH Academy. The home side led 5-0 by the first intermission, with five different players scoring in the opening frame. Defenceman Samuel Olson (1G) was among them, and Quint Myers (1G, 1A) and Dextyn Vasseur (1G) both scored their first goals of the season. Anson Kwok (2G) gave the visitors a spark early in the second, but Mason Tanguay (2G, 2A) answered twice in less than three minutes for his first two goals of the year and finished with a team-high four points. Sergei Kozinskii (1G) and Kwok (2G) added goals for CIH, while Brody Roche (1G, 1A), Rylan O’Mahony (1G, 1A) and defenceman Lochlan Shaw (1G) helped make it eight different CHE goal scorers on the afternoon.
OHA Edmonton (2) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (5) U15 Prep
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg’s U15 Prep group snapped OHA Edmonton’s four-game winning streak with a 5-2 win at the RINK Training Centre, and it did so with an unlikely cast: all five RINK goals came from players scoring their first of the season. Defenceman Ryder MacLean (1G) opened it in the first, and the power play took over from there, with Maddox Rinn (1G) and Caleb Church (1G) both cashing in on the man advantage in the second for a 3-0 lead. OHAE pushed back late in the period. Defenceman Kingston Ireland (1G) converted on a power play of his own, and Jacoby Cardinal (1G) struck 72 seconds later to make it 3-2. That was as close as it got. Chase Shymko (37/39) shut the door the rest of the way, and RINK carried a power play into the third, where Jax Fellner (1G, 1A) scored nine seconds in. Max Manaigre (1G) added another barely a minute later to put it away.
OHA Edmonton (5) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) U17 Prep
OHA Edmonton scored four special-teams goals at the GFL Twin Arena, and Jaxson Weisgerber (1G, 3A) had a hand in every one of them. A day after a 12-2 rout of Northern Alberta Xtreme, the rematch was tighter, but OHAE’s power play went 3-for-5 to make the difference. Jack Boutilier (1G, 1A) opened the scoring, and defenceman Carter Knogler (1G) doubled it on the man advantage, with netminder Zayden Maclean (23/26) picking up the secondary assist. Marek Pashko (1G, 1A) added a power-play goal midway through the second, and after Kyler Stocks (1G) answered for NAX with his first of the season, Weisgerber (1G, 3A) restored the three-goal lead shorthanded late in the period. Kane Strudwick (1G) made it 5-1 on the power play early in the third. NAX kept pushing, as defencemen Dylan Assaly (1G) and Luke Pierson (1G) both scored their first goals of the season; Pierson’s with Kash Andersen (39/44) pulled for an extra attacker, but the gap was too wide.
Prairie Hockey Academy (2) vs Edge School (4) U17 Prep
Edge School had scored 24 goals across its previous two games. Against Prairie Hockey Academy, it settled for four, and that was plenty. Natthakorn Bulakul (1G) needed only 42 seconds to put the home side ahead at the Kyle Stuart Memorial, and Ezra Blair (1G) doubled the lead on the power play midway through the first. Cooper Hale (1G) got Prairie on the board unassisted, but Kyden Bartole (1G, 1A) restored the two-goal cushion before intermission, then set up Easton Armstrong (1G) with 14 seconds left in the second. In between, Conner Aldag (27/31) kept the visitors within reach, turning aside 15 of 16 shots in an Edge-dominated middle frame, and Prairie actually outshot Edge 6-3 in the third. Noah Delaurier (1G) finally solved Cohen Spencer (18/20) late in the game, but by then Edge’s third straight win was well in hand.
Delta Hockey Academy Black (3/SO) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (2) U15
A day after blanking Pacific Coast Hockey Academy 4-0, Delta Hockey Academy Black needed a lot more to beat the same opponent twice. The home side poured 60 shots on goal at Westhills Arena, and Jase Taylor turned aside 58 of the 59 he faced to keep Delta Black’s perfect start intact. Jax Sluggett (1G, 1A) put PCHA ahead unassisted midway through the first, but defenceman Trevor Polyakov (1G) answered late in the frame for his first of the season, and Cruz Natt (1G) gave the visitors the lead early in the second. It held until 20 seconds remained, when Jonah Michell (1G) tied it on a feed from Sluggett (1G, 1A). Dylan Van Wieren (27/29) kept pace with Taylor through a scoreless overtime and a shootout that went seven rounds. Sluggett (1G, 1A), Natt (1G), Reidar Stava and Ethan Kersten all scored before Easton Medved (1A) sealed it in the seventh
St. George’s School (7) vs RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) U15
The third period belonged entirely to St. George’s School. Tied 3-3 after 40 minutes at Kal Tire Place, the visitors scored four unanswered goals on just nine third-period shots to pull away for a 7-3 win over RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna. It didn’t start that way. Staal Kurka (1G, 2A) and Lincoln Satrum (1G, 1A) gave RHA Kelowna a 2-0 lead in the first, before Rhys Borisoff (1G) and Dominic Guizzo (2G, 1A) struck 46 seconds apart late in the period to pull SGS even. Matthew Fu (2G) and defenceman Kate Cuddeford (1G) traded goals in the second, Cuddeford’s the first of the season. Then Eli Faulds (1G, 3A) took over, scoring on the power play early in the third and factoring into three of the four goals in the frame, including a power-play goal from defenceman Forrest Zhu (1G, 1A). Fu (2G) struck again just 10 seconds after that, and defenceman Arek Aubuchon (3A) finished with three assists.
Fort Erie International Academy (8) (CCM) vs Okanagan Hockey Ontario (2) (CCM) East
Fort Erie International Academy bounced back from a 6-1 loss to Bishop’s College School in emphatic fashion, spreading eight goals across eight different scorers in an 8-2 win over Okanagan Hockey Ontario at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre. Matvei Matuikha (1G, 1A) and Daniil Khmelkov (1G) staked the visitors to a 2-0 lead in the first, and defenceman Edouard Morin (1G, 1A) scored his first of the season early in the second. OHO answered just 11 seconds later through defenceman Edouard Mauger (1G), also his first of the year, but that was as close as it got. Zach Girard (1G) restored the three-goal cushion late in the second for his first goal of the season, and FEIA put it away with three goals in the opening five and a half minutes of the third from Thomas Harvey (1G, 1A), Ilia Sokurenko (1G) and Matvei Zakharov (1G). Áron Matskási (1G) and George Tagirov (1G, 1A) traded goals late to close it out.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (5) vs Shawnigan Lake School (2) U15 Prep
Six games in, Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy’s U15 Prep group finally got to celebrate. Facing a Shawnigan Lake School side also still looking for its first win, the visitors fell behind when Patrick O’Brien (1G, 1A) opened the scoring midway through the first, then took over with five unanswered goals at the Charlie Purdey Arena. Brodie Grimm (1G, 1A) tied it early in the second and later set up defenceman Tristen Jakopin (1G) for the go-ahead goal, both players scoring for the first time this season. Darren Sweetland (1G) also found the net for the first time this year with an unassisted goal in the third; Aden Bancarz (1G) added another two minutes later, and Tj Podollan (1G, 1A) capped the run with an unassisted goal of his own, his sixth of the season. Eston Clement kept the margin from growing by stopping Finn Boksich on a late penalty shot, before Cooper Sinclair (1G) scored on the power play with 11 seconds left.
BWC Academy (2) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3/OT) U17
The third meeting between these teams in eight days was the wildest yet. After 40 scoreless minutes at the Okanagan Hockey Training Centre, Okanagan Hockey Academy seemed to have it locked up when Owen Magness (1G, 1A) scored early in the third, and Lux Naka (2G, 1A) added an unassisted goal with under two minutes left. BWC Academy had other ideas. Vincenzo Carnovale (1G) pulled the visitors within one with 38 seconds to go, and defenceman Logan Hooper (1G) tied it with one second left on the clock for his first goal of the season, both set up by Owen Chapman (2A). OHA settled it less than two minutes into overtime, with Naka (2G, 1A) scoring off a feed from defenceman Riley Hansen (1A) and Magness (1G, 1A). Nash Atkinson (33/35) was the difference over the full 61 minutes, facing nearly twice as many shots as Beckett Sippel (16/19), as OHA improved to 3-0 against BWC this season.
Yale Hockey Academy (7) vs Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep
No overtime needed this time. A day after edging Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy 4-3 in extra time, Yale Hockey Academy turned the rematch at Frontier Ice Arena into a 7-2 win, its fourth straight victory. The first period was even. Luke Brandon (1G) and Alex Li (1G) scored for CDA around a power-play goal from Theodore Kim (2G, 1A) and another from Marcus Phillips (1G, 1A). The second was not. Eddie Kemp (1G) put Yale ahead early in the frame, and when Hayden Zygarliski (1G, 1A) and Ryker Stevens (1G) struck 44 seconds apart, the home side made a change in goal. Kim (2G, 1A) greeted Gunner Podollan (8/10) almost immediately, though the relief netminder steadied things from there.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs STAR Hockey Academy (4/SO) U17
A pair of teams with big-time aspirations in the U17 division clashed on Saturday, with both teams’ seven wins apiece helping lift them both to the upper quadrants of the standings. Saturday marked the first of back-to-back clashes in Kent, with STAR taking the first lead of the weekend series through Dallas Toth. The lead changed a couple times over from there, with Edrick Himley eventually scoring a last-gasp equalizer, tying the game with 26 seconds left. STAR proved the more potent in the shootout, scoring on both of their chances, while Brenden Sayles (18/21) stopped two in the shootout to earn STAR the win.
Yale Hockey Academy (10) vs North Shore Warriors (3) U15
Yale Hockey Academy looked to pull their record back to .500 against North Shore on Saturday after losing three of five to start their season, with the Warriors having lost all three to start. An explosion of early offence set the tone in Yale’s favour, with four goals in the first five minutes establishing an early lead for the Lions. Vanik Virk scored an early hat-trick, Carter Jackson (2G, 3A) scored five points, and Christian Vertes (2G, 2A) picked up four in Yale’s 10-3 win.
STAR Hockey Academy (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy White (3) U15
STAR Hockey Academy won big over North Shore on Friday night, their second victory of the season after five straight losses to start. Unfortunately, they came up against Delta Hockey Academy White that had won three and lost one in overtime to start the season, and wouldn’t look like a team ready to pick up a regulation loss yet. STAR took a lead into the first intermission, but an early goal in the second off the stick of Aaron Neilson quickly squared the game up at one through two periods. Augie Doyle and Emmett Wahl scored 90 seconds apart in the early stages of the third to establish and then double a Delta White lead, with Nick Zhang stopping 21 of 22 to secure his team another victory.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (13) Women’s U18 Prep
A 1-0 scoreline through twenty minutes of play in favour of RINK Winnipeg might have misled some as to what the outcome of Winnipeg’s clash with Pilot Mound would be on Saturday. Four goals in three and a half minutes in the early stages of the second period blew the game wide open. They’d end up scoring eight in the second, with Rowyn Street (4G, 2A) and Morgan Gage (4G, 1A) hitting the net four times apiece. Those two combined for eight of thirteen in total for RHAW. In her return to CSSHL action after missing the 2025/26 season while battling cancer, Payton Chornley (1G, 2A) would score her first goal since February 21, 2025. Chornley’s goal would stand as the insurance marker. The Winnipeg, MB native would also register a pair of assists for a three point outing in her return to action!
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (0) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (4) U17 Prep
The Pacific Coast Sea Devils looked unstoppable in the U17 Prep division throughout the last four weeks, with a run of seven straight wins coming to a screeching halt against Prairie Hockey Academy on Sunday. They’d look to bounce back into the win column against RINK Kelowna on Saturday, who themselves were coming in off a dramatic 6-5 overtime win over Shawnigan Lake on Friday. Saturday marked the first of consecutive clashes between these two teams, a clash that began with Pacific Coast taking the game’s first lead, thanks to Maximus Scheffer finishing off a set play for his thirteenth of the season. Tyson Barker (1G, 1A) and Brayden Lindsay (1G, 1A) added to the lead in the third, but ultimately, Rio Manhas proved the hero, stopping 40 for the shutout win.
OHA Edmonton (2) vs Edge School (3) U18 Prep
Five consecutive victories for Edge School’s U18 Prep side brought them to Saturday, with an OHA Edmonton squad on the other side looking for a bounce back after two losses in three games to start their schedule. Edge School’s first lead of the game through Luke Bodtker was cancelled out by Artello Forestal, but with the game marching towards the third period tied, Drew Wilkinson broke through on the man advantage. Charlie Tobin stretched Edge School’s lead further in the third, helping Edge to a two-goal lead, which they’d manage to hold despite OHA Edmonton’s best efforts at an equalizer. Lane Bullee (19/21) picked up the win for Edge.
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) vs OHA Edmonton (2/OT) U17
Pilot Mound Hockey Academy’s travel West didn’t start the way they would have hoped, with losses to NAX on Thursday and Friday putting the weight on their last two games against OHA Edmonton to pull out a weekend result. The formidable OHAE won twice against RINK Winnipeg already this weekend, and unfortunately for the Buffaloes, continued that run of form into Saturday’s date with PMHA. It looked like Nixon Gabruck’s goal might be enough to carry the Buffaloes to victory, but on a powerplay late in the third, Henrik Alexander-Ward broke through for OHAE, hitting the back of the net with less than two and a half minutes left. The OHA Edmonton man advantage would strike again in overtime, with Kirk Girard scoring on the powerplay to secure OHAE a come-from-behind win.
Okanagan Hockey Academy (2) vs Shawnigan Lake School (1) Women’s U18 Prep
The Okanagan Hockey Academy and Shawnigan Lake School’s Women’s U18 Prep sides played out an extremely even match on Saturday, one that looked destined for overtime after Grace Cooper and Edan Crowe’s second-period goals had sent the game into the final stages tied 1-1. Hayden Wild found the OHA breakthrough with under three minutes left, giving OHA a late lead that they’d retain until the end.
BWC Academy (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (3) U15
Three wins of four to start the U15 season for the Okanagan Hockey Academy brought them into their weekend back-to-back with BWC Academy, with Saturday marking the first of two straight head-to-head contests at the OHTC. BWC had been scoring all season to Saturday, but despite 21 goals in their first four games, they’d only won once prior to their clash with OHA. After OHA took an early lead, BWC went on a run of four consecutive goals, with Joseph Ferone’s (2G, 1A) double leading the way for BWC, who took a 4-1 lead into the game’s latter stages. Liam Rosse scored twice for OHA late in the third to make it close, but 32 saves on 35 shots for BWC’s William Houle helped the Tigers to the win.
North Shore Warriors (1) vs STAR Hockey Academy (0) U17 Prep
STAR Hockey Academy had followed up three consecutive wins to start the season with a string of nine losses, with a Saturday and Sunday back-to-back against the North Shore Warriors posing as their opportunity to get back in the win column. Bruno Jeschonnek was the first Warrior to hit the ice for warmups on Saturday and would prove North Shore’s standout star in the game. Liam McMorran scored late in the second period for North Shore, with Jeschonnek doing his best impression of a brick wall before and after the goal. Jeschonnek would stop all 33 shots he faced to earn a shutout, with all 33 of those saves proving vital in a 1-0 win.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs Notre Dame Hounds (1) U18 Prep
The Northern Alberta Xtreme’s U18 Prep squad came into Saturday’s clash with the Notre Dame Hounds intent on starting their eastbound roundtrip with a win, with the Hounds team on the other end looking to improve on a 1-2 start. The Northern Alberta Xtreme poured everything at St. George’s School throughout the game, and while they’d fail to break through at five-on-five, NAX would convert shorthanded in the second period through Hudson Gauld to take a 1-0 lead. Come the third, the Xtreme’s special teams further proved decisive, with a power-play goal from Rylan Johnson and another shorthanded tally from Channon Fummerton pushing them three up in an eventual 3-1 win.
BWC Academy (5) vs St. George’s School (3) U18 Prep
Three straight wins to start the year for BWC Academy’s U18 Prep side came to a screeching halt at the end of last weekend, with losses to SAHA and STAR setting up a clash with St. George’s in an attempt to get back into the win column. St. George’s School’s powerplay made that extremely difficult for BWC, with the icebreaker from Quinn Pickering on the powerplay only the first of three the Saints would score in the game. Despite St. George’s powerplay prowess, BWC’s fight back always matched it. Aaron Castro scored two on the man advantage for St. George’s, but after he had given them a second-period lead, BWC’s big guns came up firing. Declan Iacoviello and Justin Moon tied the game 1-1 and then 2-2, with Kenzo Gibson then striking with a pair for BWC. Gibson’s second of his double came shorthanded, making the BWC PK, despite being beaten thrice, ultimately crucial in the Tigers’ 5-3 win.
Yale Hockey Academy (8) vs Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep
Two wins out of three to start the U18 Prep season for Yale brought them to Saturday’s clash with the Pacific Coast Sea Devils, a PCHA team looking to get back on track after three losses in four games. PCHA came in having scored nine over the previous two games, but unfortunately for the Sea Devils, the offensive outburst would come from the Lions. With the score tied at one in the second period, Yale scored five goals in 16 minutes, led by a four-point outing from Matteo Di Stefano (2G, 2A), a pair of goals from Tanner Massey (2G, 1A) and three assists from Jacson Bradbeer. Coby Kidwell wasn’t bored in between the pipes for Yale, with Pacific Coast still peppering him with 33 shots, 32 of which he turned away.
North Shore Warriors (7) vs Shawnigan Lake School (0) U18 Prep
North Shore had followed up an opening game win over Coeur d’Alene with four consecutive losses, but looked to a win in last weekend’s showcase as a launching-off point to a better run of form. Shawnigan Lake finished last weekend with an impeccable victory over the Northern Alberta Xtreme after a 7-1 win over Wenatchee, positioning Saturday as their chance to grab a third consecutive victory. Unfortunately, they’d be on the other side of a seven-goal outing on Saturday. The Warriors, after leading by one through one period, scored four in the second and two more in the third, with Sam Paquet stopping 32 of 32 for the shutout win.
STAR Hockey Academy (4) vs Okanagan Hockey Academy (5) U18 Prep
STAR Hockey Academy’s U18 Prep squad has popped up as an early contender, losing just one of six games to start their season, heading into Saturday’s clash with an Okanagan Hockey Academy squad that had lost four straight prior to Saturday. STAR’s effort on Saturday was unrelenting, but the winless OHA squad came out looking like a team ready to do anything to get a victory. Tyson Kuiack (27/31) stood tall in net, with Jaxson Bartsch (2G, 1A) establishing OHA’s lead 24 seconds in, and OHA never falling behind from there. STAR didn’t stop pushing back, tying the game thrice, but Jace Boman, Gage Mark, and Luke Edgehouse’s (1G, 1A) goals all proved decisive for OHA, who held on to grab an impressive win over a STAR Academy squad that had dazzled so far this year.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (7) vs North Shore Warriors (2) U17
Saturday’s U17 clash between the Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy and the North Shore Warriors marked the first of back-to-back clashes between two teams in need of a positive result after disappointing starts to the seasons. They’ll play another back-to-back weekend next weekend in Coeur d’Alene, with Saturday the first of four consecutive clashes between the two teams. A pair of first-period goals in barely over three minutes for Coeur d’Alene from Hayden Carpenter and Bkake Legler sent the game into the second period with the Wings securely in charge. Asher Kekke (1G, 1A) and Colton Tillotson (1G, 1A) made it 4-0 before the second was even halfway done, with Legler (3G) scoring two more in the third to make absolutely sure of a 7-2 win.
